The Labour Commissioner of Chhattisgarh revised minimum wages and the variable dearness allowance (VDA) with effect from 1 April 2026, by Notification No. Eight/N.W./L.C./2026/960 & 961 dated 24 March 2026. The revised rates apply from 1 April 2026 to 30 September 2026, across the 45 scheduled employments, agricultural employment and agarbatti manufacture.
Why the rates rose. The VDA follows the Consumer Price Index for Industrial Workers published by the Labour Bureau. The average index for July to December 2025 rose by 11.28 points, and at Rs 20 a point the VDA for the 45 scheduled employments went up by Rs 226 a month, to Rs 3,082. For agricultural workers the VDA rose by Rs 170 a month, and for agarbatti workers by Rs 8.53 per thousand agarbattis.
The rates. Chhattisgarh fixes wages in three zones, A, B and C. For unskilled work the monthly minimum is Rs 11,402 in Zone A, Rs 11,142 in Zone B and Rs 10,882 in Zone C. Semi-skilled work is Rs 12,052, Rs 11,792 and Rs 11,532; skilled work is Rs 12,832, Rs 12,572 and Rs 12,312; and highly skilled work is Rs 13,612, Rs 13,352 and Rs 13,092. Daily rates range from Rs 419 to Rs 524 depending on the zone and skill. Unskilled agricultural workers are paid Rs 9,350 a month, or Rs 312 a day.
The VDA is the same Rs 3,082 for every category, so the differences between grades and zones come entirely from the basic rate.
What payroll teams should do: confirm the zone each establishment falls in, map every employee to a skill category, and check that wages from April 2026 are at least these figures. Chhattisgarh revises the VDA every April and October, so watch for the next order and apply it from its effective date, paying arrears where the order is issued late.

दरें। छत्तीसगढ़ तीन ज़ोनों, अ, ब और स, में वेतन तय करता है। अकुशल कार्य का मासिक न्यूनतम वेतन ज़ोन अ में 11,402 रुपये, ज़ोन ब में 11,142 रुपये और ज़ोन स में 10,882 रुपये है। अर्ध-कुशल कार्य के लिए यह 12,052, 11,792 और 11,532 रुपये है; कुशल कार्य के लिए 12,832, 12,572 और 12,312 रुपये; और अत्यधिक कुशल कार्य के लिए 13,612, 13,352 और 13,092 रुपये। ज़ोन और कौशल के अनुसार दैनिक दरें 419 रुपये से 524 रुपये तक हैं। अकुशल कृषि श्रमिकों को 9,350 रुपये प्रति माह, यानी 312 रुपये प्रतिदिन मिलते हैं।
वीडीए हर श्रेणी के लिए समान 3,082 रुपये है, अतः श्रेणियों और ज़ोनों के बीच का अंतर पूरी तरह मूल दर से आता है।
पेरोल टीमों को क्या करना चाहिए: हर प्रतिष्ठान का ज़ोन पक्का करें, हर कर्मचारी को किसी कौशल श्रेणी में रखें, और जाँचें कि अप्रैल 2026 से वेतन कम से कम इन आँकड़ों के बराबर है। छत्तीसगढ़ हर अप्रैल और अक्टूबर में वीडीए संशोधित करता है, अतः अगले आदेश पर नज़र रखें और उसे उसकी प्रभावी तिथि से लागू करें, और आदेश देर से आने पर बकाया का भुगतान करें।
