The full explanation

Maharashtra raised its Labour Welfare Fund contribution to Rs. 25 from the employee and Rs. 75 from the employer, effective 1 June 2024. The employer share is three times the employee share, not twice. That ratio is worth checking against your configuration, because it is not the common pattern. Tamil Nadu and Haryana both use a one-to-two ratio. Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh use one-to-three, and Chhattisgarh does too at Rs. 15 and Rs. 45. There is no national convention, so the ratio has to be taken from each state's own rules rather than assumed from a neighbour. Maharashtra collects the Labour Welfare Fund half-yearly, in June and December. That is a third distinct cycle alongside the state's monthly professional tax and its half-yearly minimum wage revisions on 1 January and 1 July. Three obligations, three calendars, in one state. The June and December timing also means the 1 June 2024 effective date falls exactly on a collection point, so the revised amount applied from the first collection under it rather than part-way through a period. Two configuration notes. The employer share is a cost, not a deduction, and recovering it from wages would be unauthorised. And because the contribution is half-yearly rather than monthly, an error repeats only twice a year and has six months to be forgotten in between, which is why LWF discrepancies typically surface at inspection rather than through a reconciliation.
